Bafana Bafana captain and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has shared his thoughts on having a new member Renaldo Leaner in the goalkeeping department.
Leaner earned his place in the final squad ahead of Friday night’s friendly against Panama national football team at Moses Mabhida Stadium, with a second clash scheduled for Tuesday at DHL Stadium.

The Sekhukhune United shot-stopper received his call-up after a string of impressive performances, and could get an opportunity within these two matches to impress coach Hugo Broos.
Williams praised Leaner as a strong addition, highlighting his positive attitude and seamless integration into the squad, as well as the qualities he brings to the goalkeeping unit.
“Yeah, I mean, first and foremost, the quality that he brings into the department,” said Williams.
“He’s been one of the most consistent goalkeepers for the past few years and he’s done extremely well.
“You know, he’s earned his call-up with his performances, now he’s played for his team. There’s a lot of moments that he’s carried his team on his back.
“And you can see during training he doesn’t feel that he’s new to the team, because he has been part of the team before.
“And he comes with the right energy, the right spirit, and he’s willing to learn as well. That’s good for him, it can only help him, it can only benefit him, to have someone like myself and Ricardo, who’s been there at the highest level for such a long time, and for him to rub shoulders with us and learn will only benefit him.
“Yeah, it’s a good addition.”
