Latest Women’s FIFA Rankings

Banyana Banyana have stayed just outside the top 50 ranked nations in the latest Women’s FIFA world rankings.

Desiree Ellis’ team finished the recent international break with a 1-1 draw and a 2-0 win away to Senegal.

However, with friendlies being less important in the FIFA ranking, those results didn’t really impact Banyana’s world ranking and they have remained in 51st.

The 2023 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations champions, though, remained the second-highest ranked African team, with Nigeria CAF’s highest-ranked in 36th overall.

Meanwhile, Morocco, who are third in Africa, fell to 59th overall, while Africa’s fourth-highest ranked side Zambia climbed into 64th globally.

Zambia and Nigeria’s ranking could improve as they will represent Africa at the upcoming Olympic games, which are rated higher than friendly matches.

Meanwhile, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is yet to be scheduled and could be moved to 2025.

Below are Africa’s top 10 in the latest Women’s FIFA ranking:

Globally, Spain stayed in first place, followed by France who switched places with England, while Germany moved into fourth ahead of USA.
