Banyana Banyana have received a tough group at the 2024 Olympics should they jump passed the final hurdle and beat Nigeria in the last qualifying round.
Desiree Ellis team face the Super Falcons on 1 and 9 April, with one of the two CAF qualifying spots for the Olympics up for grabs.
Banyana have risen above many difficult tasks in recent years, including winning their first-ever match at a FIFA Women’s World Cup and reaching the knockout stages for the very first time last year.
A year earlier they lifted South Africa’s first-ever Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, beating Nigeria 2-1 in the opener of the 2022 tournament.
Should they now again get past Nigeria, a group with Brazil, Spain and Japan would await at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
