Kaizer Chiefs defender Aden McCarthy has boldly admitted they want to win the league title this season and it’s something that is possible.
Amakhosi haven’t won the league title since 2015 under Stuart Baxter and broke a decade long trophy drought last season with the Nedbank Cup. They have also finished outside the top eight in the last two seasons. This term, they started well and are currently in third place on the Betway Premiership log tied on 27 points from 14 matches.

Chiefs face Marumo Gallants at Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium on Wednesday evening looking to close in on the sides above them. With little separating the sides in the top five McCarthy said the race for the title is on and his side is in it too.
“The race is on,” said McCarthy to Chiefs media.
“We want that. We want the league title and it’s very possible, so we just need to work hard and work towards that as a main goal.
“Going to Bloem and playing against Marumo Gallants we know that we are up against quality players and a team that brings anything on the day. So, it’s quite unexpected.
“We can only plan so much, but with what we have here at the team, the players, the individual we are just going to go there guns blazing and do the job.”
