AFCON Winner Back At SuperSport

Veteran Zambian defender Davies Nkausu is back at SuperSport United, iDiski Times has learnt.

Nkausu is set to form part of development as coach Gavin Hunt is bringing all the players he trusted that won him league titles on three consecutive occasions in his first stint with the club in 2008 and 2010.

The 37-year-old spent six seasons with the club, having joined them from the University of Pretoria in the 2008/09 season. He won the league in his first season in that campaign and in the following term.

The league title was followed by the Nedbank Cup in 2011/12, beating Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 at Orlando Stadium.

It was a good year for Nkausu in that year as he also helped his country Zambia to win the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, playing the entire match final against Ivory Coast.

However, Nkausu left SuperSport to join Bloemfontein Celtic in the 2013/14 season, where he spent two terms before joining AmaTuks,

Other clubs Nkausu played for are Free State Stars and Baroka FC, with whom he won the Telkom Knockout Cup in the 2018/19 season.

He then left Bakgaga at the end of that season and has been without a club ever since.

In bringing back Nkausu, SuperSport is beefing up its development, following the departure of Kwanele Kopo.

They recently brought back Jabulani Maluleke as set play coach for the development and senior team.

SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews was not available to comment.
