Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis has revealed that staying focused on his job was what helped him not get distracted in the past transfer window.
Appollis was a key part of Rise and Shine last season helping them finish in the top eight in their return to topflight football while also being part of the Bafana Bafana squad that won bronze at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

Broos – It Was Not The Right Move For Appollis
Despite not featuring much in Ivory Coast, the 23-year-old has however become integral in the national team’s 2025 AFCON and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
These performances saw him attract interest from Esperance de Tunis and locally Kaizer Chiefs. The player remained in Limpopo’s capital despite the interest dominating headlines.
Appollis told iDiski Times Editor Rob Delport in edition 180 that the only thing for him was to focus on his club where he is happy.
“Yes, because at the end of the day, there’s nothing I can do but stay focused,” Appollis told iDiski Times.
“My job is just to work hard for the club, and if I then get interest, or get an opportunity to represent the country, it’s down to me to do the hard work.
“There’s nothing I can do. And I’m at Polokwane now and I’m happy.”
Appollis acknowledged that it was the move to City that revived his career and got him in the senior national team and that he is grateful to the club for signing him.
“No, at Polokwane, it was a very good move,” added Appollis.
“It helped me also going to the PSL. Moving from Pretoria Callies to Polokwane gave me that opportunity to represent the national team because if they didn’t sign me, I might maybe still be at Pretoria Callies.
“So, Polokwane played a vital role in me going to the national team, and I appreciate what they did. And for this new season, I just want to continue working hard and working hard for the team. And we’ll see where we go from there.”
