Arrows Captain About Intimidating Orlando Amstel Arena

Golden Arrows captain Nduduzo Sibiya described the intimidating atmosphere at Orlando Amstel Arena ahead of their match against Orlando Pirates.

The KwaZulu-Natal-based team will visit Pirates at the Orlando Amstel Arena this afternoon, a venue they are not fond of visiting.

Abafana Bes’thende’s last win at Orlando Amstel Arena occurred 11 years ago, when Kudakwashe Mahachi and Gladwin Shitolo scored in a 2-0 victory.

Since then, Arrows have suffered five defeats and managed five goalless draws, scoring six goals in 10 meetings while conceding 18.

Ahead of the match, Sibiya discussed the arena’s intimidating atmosphere in an interview with Up Back Through Podcast.

“I think when you play at Orlando [stadium] it’s not like the other stadiums, even if you go there fit when you get it’s like you didn’t train,” Sibiya told Up Back Through Podcast.

“There are slim chances of winning in Orlando [stadium]. Orlando [stadium] is heavy no matter how fit you are, you just look like you didn’t train.

“They are used to it, so they use it at their advantage. The fans are playing a huge role because they pack the stadium, once they score first it’s tough for you to bounce back.”
