Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker was proud of his players’ efforts in their 1-0 win over Marumo Gallants.
Devin Titus scored the only goal in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, as Barker’s team jumped to third on the Betway Premiership table with 31 points. They are now level with Sekhukhune United and Polokwane City but have the superior goal difference and a game in hand.
The Stellenbosch coach said he was pleased with the effort and getting the three points, against a Gallants team who have been playing well of late.
“Ja, no, obviously very delighted with getting maximum points,” Barker said.
“A very difficult place to go to, against a good team, that have been playing really well.
“So the players showed a great deal of commitment, a lot of effort was put into the game, and I just thought that we showed a lot of professionalism in getting the job done.
“First half, was a tight affair with both teams, sort of, you know, having chances to have wanted to go in at half-time in the lead, but fortunately we were able to come out [in the] second half, get the goal and then see out the game.
“Well done to the players for really a magnificent effort.”
