Barker Provides Update On New Stellies Signing

Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker has revealed that new club signing Enyinnaya Kazie Godswill is yet to arrive in South Africa due to visa delays.

Stellies lost their longest-serving right-back Deano Van Rooyen to Orlando Pirates in the past transfer window and felt the need to further strengthen their right-back position with the addition of Godswill as they only had Kyle Jurgens.

Barker has for the past matches been forced to deploy Thabo Moloisane at right-back including the MTN8 final against Orlando Pirates where he has fairly excelled.

They made efforts to get Thabang Matuludi from Polokwane City, but their offers fell on deaf ears before opting to look outside out of the country for the 25-year-old Godswill who previously played for Rivers United in his native Nigeria.

“It’s been very frustrating, we thought by now he would be in the country, but we have Visa problems, Barker told iDiski Times.

“He has applied for a visitor’s visa to come to South Africa but hasn’t been granted yet, so if anybody got connections in Lagos, I’d appreciate the telephone number or two.”
