Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker admits that it gives him satisfaction looking at the Betway Premiership log after his side rose to third place following a 2-1 victory over Sekhukhune United.
The side had endured some inconsistent results in the league and now they find themselves equal on 35 points with TS Galaxy behind them though the former has two games in hand.

Barker said the victory was much needed not only for movement on the table against direct opposition but also because it has been a tough time with tough fixtures physically and emotionally.
“I think it’s a massively big result for us,” Barker responded to an iDiski Times question on the side’s rise on the log.
“Obviously, both teams have the same ambitions I believe to be finishing in that top sort of three. So, yeah, it’s good to go into the FIFA break sitting in third position, obviously looking forward to the remainder of the season.

“And obviously we also got a big quarter-final against Zamalek to look forward to. So, I think the FIFA break is coming at a really good time for us.
“We’ve played a lot of games of late, both physically and emotionally, been some tough fixtures for us.
“So, to win today against a really good team and to be in third position it’s really good to see the log.
“But obviously still quite a lot of work to be done so we can’t get ahead of ourselves but happy with where we are.”
