Mamelodi Sundowns defender Fawaad Basadien has revealed that growing up he drew inspiration from Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo because of how he carries himself with his professionalism and discipline.
Basadien, 29, joined Masandawana at the beginning of the season from Stellenbosch FC in a high profile move that has not exactly turned out as anticipated with the Bafana Bafana left-back making just seven appearances across all competitions since his arrival at Chloorkop.

Despite playing a different role to that of the Al Nassr captain, the former Stellies man admits that he has taken leaf from how Ronaldo integrates all of that in his life on the field of play.
“Watching him taught me the importance of professionalism, discipline and always striving to improve, lessons I carry into my own game every day,” he told the Sundowns magazine.
“At Sundowns, I am fortunate to train alongside world-class teammates whose dedication, intelligence and teamwork push me to raise my standards both on and off the pitch.”
