Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Xolani Mlambo finds himself in dire financial straits after being ordered by the PSL to fork out a hefty R120,000 to TS Galaxy.
Mlambo, 32, joined the Rockets on a free transfer in July 2022 from AmaZulu FC shortly after the appointment of German mentor Sead Ramovic but saw his two-season-long contract end prematurely after an alleged fallout with the coach.
The player accused Ramovic of targeting him after the coach had called him ‘lazy’, thus prompting the player to lodge a case for outstanding salaries on his two-year deal – but the case has been dismissed by PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC).
In a letter, seen by this publication, the PSL DRC threw out Mlambo’s case, while Galaxy also had a counter case for damages which was also dismissed.
However, Mlambo was ordered to “repay” Galaxy R120,000 “in respect of overpaid salaries”, while he must also cover the costs of the case.
Mlambo also played for Bidvest Wits and Chippa United in the DStv Premiership, but currently finds himself clubless ahead of the 2024/25 season.
