Bvuma – It’s Not A Goalkeeper Problem At Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma doesn’t think the club’s challenges are all in his department or defence alone.

Chiefs have endured a dry trophy spell for almost a decade now and are trying to rebuild and get back to glory days under Nasreddine Nabi. Amakhosi have won five of their 13 league matches so far, drawn three and lost the other five.

They have scored 16 goals, the same number of goals they have conceded as well and are the second highest scoring side so far this campaign behind Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates who are tied at 22 goals. Chiefs also have the second leakiest defence behind Marumo Gallants who have let in 21 goals.

Bvuma spoke to reporters including iDiski Times’ senior journalist Lorenz Köhler and the interview is carried in edition 187 of the newspaper where he expressed that the challenges are the team’s, and they are working hard in all departments to get things right.

“What have been these challenges?” said Bvuma.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a defensive thing, a defensive problem, because we attack as a team, we also defend as a team. So, defending starts from up front. So, as a team, we need to do better. We are very much aware that we’ve been conceding goals and losing games as well.

“So, this is something that we’re working on. Obviously, like, it’s a team thing. It’s not like a defensive problem or a goalkeepers’ problem. So, it’s a team thing, and I believe that it’s a work in progress.

“Hopefully, we get it right sooner, so that we can, obviously, like, start keeping the clean sheets and winning games.”
