Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has given a crucial update on the situation of Monnapule Saleng, saying he has been recovering from injury faster than expected.
The left-footer joined Masandawana in the January transfer window from Orlando Pirates, having spent the first round of the season on loan at Orbit College.

However, he has had to wait for his debut as he has been nursing a quad injury. Initially, the club said the 27-year-old would be sidelined for close to two months before returning to action.
Now, Cardoso says that timeline was given to take pressure off the player’s recovery. In fact, Saleng could be back sooner than initially predicted.
“Saleng has recovered very positively,” said Cardoso during the Nedbank Cup pre-match press conference at PSL headquarters.
“If you remember when I spoke about Saleng, I told that in a very negative approach that probably we might have him out for two months.
“I also wanted to take out some pressure from his recovery and from himself. I believe it’s not gonna be that time for him to come back to training.
“Then we need to get to understand how he feels, if he’s clear, fitness wise and capable to help the team.
“We have to make him understand a few details we want from him and understand the moment where he’ll be capable to perform.”
