Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has explained their tight schedule after Orbit College refused to postpone their fixture.
Sundowns’ tight schedule continues to trouble them despite being knocked out of the Nedbank Cup. The Betway Premiership champions will face Malian side Stade Malien in the CAF Champions League on Friday, 13 March.
With the league title race heating up, Sundowns is facing a schedule where they play back-to-back in a space of a few days including their CAFCL first leg quarterfinal clash.
Downs will face Orbit College few days before the Malians in the CAFCL, and the Masandawana mentor did not seem happy with the decision.
“We tried to push of Orbit College that is on Tuesday, we playing Stade Malien on Friday,” Cardoso told the media.
“We asked Orbit to allow us to play the match before Saturday and Sunday and they don’t agree, they don’t want to help a team that is a South African representative and the only one in the CAFCL to have more chances to perform on that match.
“I think that is something that PSL should and the football federation should understand what is better for South African football regarding how we represent ourselves in the international competition.
“And in between the two matches against Stade Malien we gonna play again PSL so it’s the football we have.
“I am not complaining I just state the things, and I hope the players will give the answers that will be good so that we will be up to the challenges.”
