Cardoso Sends Message To Downs Fans

New Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso admits that he has been impressed with how the club’s fans celebrate and is looking to contribute to their happiness with good results.

The former ES Tunis coach was announced as Manqoba Mngqithi’s replacement on Tuesday after the club confirmed the exit of the latter following unconvincing performances.

Addressing the media in Pretoria upon his introduction, the 52-year-old Portuguese mentor said he hopes to stay at the club longer and would like for the fans to be there through thick and thin as the club needs their support.

“I also want to give a special word to the fans Mamelodi,” said Cardoso.

“Obviously, I hope that we can be together in the good, in the bad moments, obviously we’ll try not to have bad moments, as few as possible. But we need to be together, we need to be a family.

“I felt the family when I arrived from the first moment we spoke, and I want that family to be present every moment and our match days. We need the people; we need the support.

“With this happiness, the way they really impressed me last year, the way people celebrate in the moment of the game, I want to feel this joy, this pleasure and I want to contribute to that with the results that we will for sure take.

“So, in general, that’s the message that I want to pass to you.”
