Kaizer Chiefs achieved a few major milestones in the club’s history by winning their 900th league game since their first league match in 1971 which also took their points tally in the PSL Era to 1500.
For the 24th year in a row, Amakhosi also went undefeated in their final league game of a calendar year which means they have not gone into a new year on the back of a defeat since 1999.

Amakhosi were eager to end their rut of securing just a single victory in their last five league matches and did just that as starlet Mduduzi Shabalala’s solo effort on the stroke of the half-time saw him score what many deemed as the goal of the season contender in a narrow 1-0 win over Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Glamour Boys featured in their first league game in the National Professional Soccer League on 17 April 1971, just over a year after the club’s formation and announced their arrival in emphatic fashion as they trounced African Wanderers 11-1.

In that historic win, Otto Malaza scored Chiefs’ first league goal and bagged a hat-trick while the legendary late Ace Ntsoelengoe netted four goals. Herman ‘Pele’ Blaschke also found the back of the net and became the first foreign player to score in a league game for Amakhosi.
Chiefs’ win over the Chilli Boys saw them move into seventh spot with 15 points from 10 outings.
Their next Betway Premiership match will see them travel to the Mother City to take on Cape Town City on 5 January 2025 at the DHL Stadium.
