Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has addressed the talk over whether the club should be considered among the league contenders this campaign.
Despite an inconsistent start to the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season, Amakhosi currently sit third in the league standings with 19 points collected from ten matches.
On Friday, Amakhosi bounced back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Durban City, following a difficult run of form that saw them lose one and draw three of their previous four league matches.
Speaking to reporters post-match, Ben Youssef addressed the question of Chiefs being title contenders, stating that they are “thinking about winning the title”.
“For the team, I think every season, the targets of Kaizer Chiefs are the same,” said Ben Youssef.
“We compete for every competition we are in. Carling Cup, we are out, Nedbank Cup, the league and African Cup [CAF Confederation Cup].
“Every game, we fight, we compete and we think about winning the title. Last time, we were struggling [drawing three games and losing one].
“Now, we have won and we will continue to fight. Then we will see the results after.”
Chiefs will aim to extend their winning streak when they host Orbit College at FNB Stadium on Tuesday, 4 November.
