Chiefs Coach Gives Injury Update, 2 Players Out

Kaizer Chiefs coach Khalil Ben Youssef has confirmed that two players are sidelined for their clash with Stellenbosch FC on Tuesday.

Amakhosi come into this game after a nine-day gap following their exit from the CAF Confederations Cup after their 2-1 defeat to Zamalek.

With Chiefs also being knocked out of the Nedbank Cup already by Tuesday’s opponents, who themselves lost in the next round to Golden Arrows this past weekend, the Glamour Boys only have the league left to play for.

Chiefs currently sit in fourth place in the Betway Premiership with 30 points, eight behind leaders Orlando Pirates but have two games in hand on the Buccaneers, who they will also be facing in Saturday’s Soweto Derby.

Ahead of two big matches for the club, Ben Youssef confirmed that Etiosa Ighodaro and Reeve Frosler are the only two players sidelined for the club.

“Ighodaro is still far away, he needs two more weeks,” he stated when asked for an injury update.

“And also, Reeve is out. But I think the other players are ready for tomorrow, and for our next game.

“And then it depends on the plan of the game and our idea as technical staff, we decide which player will start tomorrow and who will be in the bench.”

Chiefs will take on Stellies at FNB Stadium at 19:30 on Tuesday, having lost their previous two games against the Cape Winelands side this campaign – 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup and 5-4 on penalties in the Carling Knockout.
