Chiefs Confirm Another Injury

Kaizer Chiefs have suffered another injury setback with vice-captain Zitha Kwinika who missed their clash against Magesi FC.

The Glamour Boys made it back-to-back wins in the Betway Premiership on Saturday evening after dispatching the relegation candidates 2-0 at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Amakhosi beat Durban City 1-0 in their previous match with Glody Lilepo scoring the solitary goal.

The Congolese interntional was again in the thick of things against Dikwena Tsa Meetse as he provided an assist for Wandile Duba’s opener in the 32nd minute.

Second half substitute Mfundo Vilakazi then wrapped up the match in the 84th minute to make 2-0 for the much-needed maximum points.

The Naturena-based outfit moved into fourth position on the log standings, just one point behind third-placed AmaZulu, with Chiefs having played two games less.

Prior to the Magesi clash, Chiefs confirmed that Kwinika had been added to their growing injury list with the likes of Rushwin Dortley, Ethan Chislett, Reeve Frosler, George Matlou and Nkanyiso Shinga.

“There are three changes to the starting line-up from the previous match, with McCarthy coming in the injured Zitha Kwinika at the back,” the club said.

“Nkosingiphile Ngcobo replacing Siphesihle Ndlovu in midfield, and winger Pule Mmodi preferred to Ashley Du Preez.”

Chiefs now switch their attention to their next league match away to ORBIT College on Monday, April 6.
