Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Youssef Ben Khalil has confirmed that four players are currently sidelined, but Rushwin Dortley has a chance of making the squad.
Ashley Du Preez became the latest Amakhosi player to pick up a serious injury, after suffering a fracture in the match against his former club, Stellenbosch FC.
While Du Preez, Gaston Sirino and Edson Castillo remain sidelined, Dortley has a 50/50 chance to feature against Sekhukhune.
“Ashley Du Preez he will be also out [vs Sekhukhune], he fractured his hand,” Ben Khalil said on Thursday.
“For Dortley, it’s still 50/50, because when went to Bafana Bafana he picked up an injury. We try to manage him every week, sometimes he makes two recovery sessions because we try… he’s an international player, we have to protect.
“I’d say he’s 50/50 for this game, maybe he will be with us, maybe in the bench or maybe out of the squad.
“We are waiting for a medical decision.”
The Chiefs assistant, who will stand in on the sidelines for the suspended Nasreddine Nabi this weekend, also insisted serious injuries have been hampering their progress at the club.
“We try to play the same team but get injury,” he added.
“It was Dove, after Castillo, after Sirino, after Mshini, Bradley Cross and now Ashley.
“Every game we lose players and have to change the squad, for that it’s not easy for us to get it right with this problem we get.”
Chiefs take on third-placed Babina Noko at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday, trying to get back to winning ways after their 1-0 defeat to Golden Arrows at the same venue.
