Chiefs Give Update On Ntseki After ‘Missile Throwing’

Kaizer Chiefs communications manager Vina Maphosa has condemned the “missile throwing” at head Coach Molefi Ntseki and also confirmed that the coach was not hurt in the process.

The ugly scenes happened at Mbombela Stadium on Sunday after Amakhosi lost 1-0 to TS Galaxy to continue their shaky start in the DStv Premiership.

It was a complete swing of emotions from the stands, after one week again Chiefs celebrated when the Glamour Boys had knocked Cape Town City out of the MTN8 to reach the semi-finals, with fans already showing their disappointment with the club and coach after just three league matches.

However, Maphosa confirmed that neither Ntseki nor any other club official was hurt despite being targeted with objects from the stands.

“We don’t have any kind of report that suggest coach was caught in that missile throwing,” he told Thabiso Mosia on Radio2000.

“So far we don’t have any report that suggest that the coach has been hurt or anyone of our club officials.”

Maphosa also condemned the actions, saying the club will work with authorities to identify the individuals who crossed the line.

“It is mainly on individual basis and those perpetrators and individuals, once identified, action will be taken by the club in the way that we communicate with our club and the rest we’ll leave to the authorities,” he added.

“The things that happened at the stadium, one they are being condemned for safety of the people.

“When we go to Mbombela, we go to Mbombela to play in a fixture, we go there to win, we go there to entertain our supporters, we go there to compete with the opposition.

“It was just this three games in the league, we won in Athlone and the coach was the hero on the day. So it’s just on the day [that fans were upset at Mbombela].

“We appeal to our supporters to support the coach and we will continue to work hard and I can confirm that coach Ntseki and his technical team and the player work tirelessly to try to get this machinery running.”

Chiefs return to action on Saturday when they will host winless AmaZulu at FNB Stadium at 17:30.
