Chiefs Hold Off AmaZulu To Pick Up Second Win

Kaizer Chiefs picked up their second win on the trot with a 3-1 victory over AmaZulu FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday night.

Gaston Sirino fluffed his shot just four minutes in after a looped cross from Mduduzi Shabalala.

Chiefs took the lead in the 12th minute through Ranga Chivaviro who had his first shot saved by Olwethu Mzimela before the Chiefs number seven rattled the net on the second attempt.

Sirino then doubled Chiefs’ lead shortly after in the 14th minute with an absolute pile drive into the top corner to make it 2-0.

The floodgates started to open, and Amakhosi were 3-0 to the good from Inacio Miguel’s thumping header from a corner in the 24th minute.

Etiosa Ighodaro did find the net for AmaZulu in the 33rd minute but the big number nine was righfully flagged offside.

Sirino had another long-range attempt in the 42nd minute but Mzimela made an easy save, before the Uruguayan’s header from close range a minute later was saved again.

Ighodaro pulled one back for Usuthu in the 47th minute after the Chiefs defence was caught flat-footed.

Thabang Moremi was unlucky to see his shot come off the crossbar in the 50th minute before Rushwin Dortley made a goal line clearance.

In the 72nd minute Mfundo Vilakazi tried his luck from range, but Mzimela was equally up to the task.

With Fiacre Ntwari well-beaten, Ighodaro saw his header come off the upright in the 80th minute.

Christian Saile had one last chance to wrap up the game but his shot in the 83rd minute sailed off target.

The home side had a last throw at the dice, but Ntwari pulled off a magnificent save at the far post as Chiefs recorded another win on the road.
