Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend Siyabonga Nomvethe has joined the chorus of voices saying Mamelodi Sundowns Lucas Ribeiro should get this season’s Player of the Season gong.
Ribeiro will get his second league-winning medal in the side’s last game of the season against Magesi FC on Sunday after they clinched an unprecedented eighth league title last week with a game to spare.
The 26-year-old has mesmerised South African football lovers with his skill and quality up front where he enjoyed a 23 goal contribution of 14 goals scored and nine assists.
The two time PSL Player of the Season winner and all-time top goal scorer told iDiski Times senior writer Matshelane Mamabolo in edition 204 of the newspaper that he’s been impressed with the Brazilian’s consistency and his easy-on-the-eye game.
“That boy Ribeiro is very talented, and he has really done well this season. He deserves to win the award,” Nomvethe told iDiski Times.
“He has shown us amazing talent this season and he has been the leading player at Sundowns. He is very skilful and also fast.
“He is very consistent in scoring goals and also assisting. He has been doing things that are pleasing to watch for us as football fans.”
