Kaizer Chiefs missed out on finishing inside the top eight for a second successive season after failing to beat Polokwane City at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Tashreeq Morris had the first chance of the game but his shot went past the far post after 15 minutes.
Amakhosi came even closer to scoring five minutes later when a thunderous shot by Dillan Solomons hit the left post, before Morris’ missed a great chance on the rebound.
Polokwane City missed a great chance after 35 minutes when Surprise Manthosi’s shot missed the target.
Chiefs had another chance in the 40th but a header by Edmilson Dove touched the upper side of the bar.
The home side had another great chance to score in the 60th minute after a cross hit the bar, before Lilepo’s shot from close range was parried by Brian Bwire.
Just three minutes later, Yusuf Maart was denied by a goal-line clearance, as Chiefs had to up the ante with unfavourable results in other stadiums.
However, despite Nasreddine Nabi throwing on Gaston Sirino and Ranga Chivaviro in a bid to find that all important goal, Chiefs failed to find the back of the net once more.
They end the 2024/25 campaign with 32 points from 28 games, having scored 25 and conceded 32, which sees them in ninth place currently.
Meanwhile Rise and Shine secured their place in the top eight, finishing the campaign with 34 points.
