Chiefs’ Next Match Confirmed

Kaizer Chiefs will be returning to Bloemfontein for a third time in 10 weeks as they participate in a friendly match against Marumo Gallants under the Cufa Cup banner on Sunday, 13 October.

The Free State Stadium has somewhat become home for Amakhosi this season having already played Tanzanian champions Yanga SC in the Toyota Cup before a sold-out affair that saw them beat Gallants 2-1 in their Betway Premiership opener.

With Chiefs only back in competitive action on 26 October when they take on SuperSport United, coach Nasreddine Nabi could look to use this friendly to give some of his fringe players a run as well as test new combinations.

The Tunisian mentor also recently confirmed that they have secured a high-profile friendly against Mamelodi Sundowns though the date is unknown at this stage and if it will be played behind closed doors or whether fans will have chance to catch a glimpse of it.

Amakhosi winger winger Tebogo Potsane, who is currently nursing an ankle injury and hails from the City of Roses, expressed delight at Chiefs going back to Bloem for the one-day match, hoping that fans can once again show up in numbers.

“As someone from Bloemfontein, I am honoured to be back home to attend the launch of Cufa Cup,” Potsane told the club’s website.

“We are really looking forward to coming back to Bloemfontein for a third time in 10 weeks. We played in front of capacity crowds against Young Africans on 28 July in the Toyota Cup and faced Marumo Gallants in the Betway Premiership on 14 September, and supporters did not disappoint again when they filled up the Toyota stadium once more.

“We know people of Mangaung love football, and we look forward to another sold-out crowd when we return on 13 October,” he said.

The match will kick off at 15:00.
