Kaizer Chiefs have expressed a message of condolences after learning of the passing of striker Ashley Du Preez’s father, Abraham Jansen.
Du Preez, who joined the Glamour Boys in 2022 from Stellenbosch FC, is finally living up to the reported R10 million price tag Amakhosi paid for him and was instrumental in their Nedbank Cup triumph this past season.
He scored the winning goal against Mamelodi Sundowns in the penultimate match before laying the assist for Chiefs’ winning goal against Orlando Pirates in the final.
Chiefs confirmed the sad news on X, posting an official condolence message that sparked an emotional response from fans and supporters from all corners of the country.
“We are saddened by the passing of Abraham Jansen, the father of our player Ashley Du Preez. We extend our deepest condolences to Ashley and his family. May his father’s soul rest in peace.”
