Chiefs & Pirates’ Soweto Derby Starting XIs Announced

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates have announced their starting line-ups for this afternoon’s much anticipated DStv Premiership clash at FNB Stadium.

The day for Soweto Derby number 179 has arrived, with Chiefs hosting their bitter rivals at FNB Stadium.

Both sides are coming to this game after positive results during the week. Chiefs ended their winless run by beating Cape Town Spurs by 3-2 in a empty FNB Stadium. Bucs also ended their four-match winless run by beating Sekhukhune United 1-0.

Amakhosi have been struggling in the current season to get the foot on paddle, but the Ephefeni Glamour Boys come to this fixture having won the last five league derbies.

Meanwhile, Bucs also have a lot prove to their supporters as they’ve been struggling to score goals lately.

These two Soweto giants faced each other on 104 occasions in the league, with Chiefs winning 45, drawing 36 and losing 23. They will look to continue with their dominance, as both sides find themselves in a position they don’t want.

Amakhosi are sitting in seventh place with 14 points after 11 matches, while the Sea Robbers find themselves on position 10 with 12 points from nine matches.

Here is how they line up:

Chiefs XI: Khune, Dove, Ditlhokwe, Msimango, Kwinika, Maart, Castillo, Mthethwa, Nk. Ngcobo, Dolly, Chivaviro

Subs: Bvuma, Hlanti, Frosler, Nj. Ngcobo, Zwane, Matlou, Mmodi, Saile, Shabalala

Pirates XI: Buthelezi, Monyane, Ndah, Xoki, Hotto, Monare, Timm, Maswanganyi, Lorch, Erasmus, Makgopa.

Subs: Ofori, Pule, Mofokeng, Shandu, Kimvuidi, Ndlondlo, Saleng, Lepasa, Sibisi
