Chiefs Reveal New Technical Team Plans For 2024/25 Season

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director has confirmed that Amakhosi will have a new coach next season to replace interim coach Cavin Johnson.

Amakhosi started with four wins in their first six games after Johnson replaced Molefi Ntseki and opted not to make further technical team changes during the Africa Cup of Nations break.

But things have not gone as planned in 2024, as they’ve now won just one of their last nine games in all competitions – a run that saw them being knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by Milford and also drop into eighth place on the log.

However, Motaung Jr. has in a rare public appearance confirmed the club are working on wholesome changes to their technical team.

“It’s a something we communicated from the onset — Cavin has stepped in on an interim basis and we’re [committed] to having a different technical structure next season,” he said on the sidelines of Luke Fleurs’ memorial service, as cited by TimesLive.

“I know we are focused on the next game and the next seven games and we have everything to play for. But yes, definitely the plans have long been in motion — we’ll be having a different technical structure next season.”

Motaung Jr. also revealed they club’s management has been working on their coaching shortlist but didn’t want to reveal any names on said list.

“Well, you know, it’s our shortlist but who makes that shortlist? From our side we’ve been preparing for a while now and at the appropriate time we’ll make the right announcements,” he continued.

Chiefs are only back in action on 21 April when they will face second-from-bottom Richards Bay away from home.
