Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Edson Castillo has once again been called up into the Venezuela national team squad after his impressive start to life at Naturena.
Castillo, 29, has scored five goals in 16 appearances for Amakhosi, and almost made it six but his thumping header in Saturday’s Soweto Derby defeat only hit the post.
The central midfielder was part of the Venezuela squad during the previous international break and even though he didn’t feature in either of the two matches, coach has Fernando Batista again named him in his Venezuela squad.
La Vinotinto will take on Ecuador and Peru after holding Brazil to a 1-1 draw and beating Chile 3-0 during the previous international break. They currently sit in fourth place in the South American 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Castillo, who featured for the South American side at the 2021 Copa America will now have the chance to add to his six senior international caps.
