Kaizer Chiefs are closing in on securing a new contract with forward Ashley du Preez after links with a move to Portugal in the off-season.
The 27-year-old has endured an injury-hit campaign with three goals in 13 appearances to his name but remains a valued part of the first-team squad.

Amakhosi invested significantly to lure him from Stellenbosch in a R10-million transfer in July 2022 and the technical team feels he can be an important part of the squad once fit.
Despite links with a move to Portugal in the off- season, which has since cooled down, du Preez is ready to remain with the Soweto giants and prove his worth with the new long-term deal on the horizon.

Overall, du Preez has featured in 72 games for Amakhosi, scoring 18 goals and setting up seven more.
