Magesi FC goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze has made comparisons of his side‘s struggles in the league to European sides Manchester City and Barcelona.
Magesi have found the going tough in their second season in South Africa’s topflight league currently sitting at the bottom of the Betway Premiership log with 11 points in 15 matches three points from safety. The last time Dikwena tṧa meetse got a positive result was in November last year the 1-1 draw away at Marumo Gallants.
The Magesi skipper says the struggle is just a phase and if some of the biggest clubs in the world can endure slumps, his side is no special.
“It’s normal in football,” said Chipezeze.
“You can check even Manchester City they are struggling, even Barcelona there was a time where they were struggling you know who are we?
“It’s one of those things that you need to take into consideration that this is football, you might do well the other season and the coming season you might struggle.
“But like I said earlier I believe in the boys, the hard work they are putting in week in week out it’s massive.
“We‘ve been unlucky maybe the football gods were not on our side but it’s the New Year, new stuff is coming up, new players coming in.
“We are just going to take it one game at a time and believe that we can pull this through. We’ve been here before we know that it takes hard work.
“We can’t just sit here and say we are going to go through and stuff like that. It also takes time and positive things are coming through.”
Meanwhile, the Limpopo side is hosting Golden Arrows in the league on Friday evening in Seshego and the Zimbabwe international admits the venue has been a happy hunting ground for his side, but he knows they still need to do the work on the pitch.
“Seshego stadium is very important for us and like I said earlier with the support base that we are having here it’s a plus on our side,” added Chipezeze.
“We are just going to take it one game at a time. We know that last season it was difficult for other teams to come out here but it’s a different ball game now and there are a lot of teams that have visited us and they know what we are capable of here.
“It’s going to take hard work I can’t just say this is going to be our fortress there needs to be hard work.”
