Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando Da Cruz says his side dropped two points at Richards Bay after gifting the home side two easy goals.
Amakhosi twice came from behind to salvage a draw – their first point at Bay after three successive defeats.
After the match, Da Cruz expressed his frustration at his side’s lapses in defence, insisting both goals of the home team were gifts from his side.
“We lost two points today,” he told SuperSport TV.
“We played a very good game, we were better than the opponents.
“We drew not because the opponent was better but because we made too many mistakes.”
However, Da Cruz found comfort in the performances of substitutes Faiz Abrahams and Asanele Velebayi, with the latter setting up Siphesihle Ndlovu’s equaliser, saying Amakhosi have been good from the bench.
“Since the beginning our substitutes have made good jobs when coming on,” he added.
“We need to keep this mindset because we don’t only need 11 players but the whole squad.”
Chiefs are third on the log with eight points from four games, still unbeaten, but two behind leaders Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
They return to action on 5 September when they will host Siwelele FC.
