Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz says almost all the players who missed the previous match are unlikely to return for Saturday’s Betway Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of the encounter at FNB Stadium, Da Cruz was asked about the availability of his squad.
The Chiefs coach explained that the short turnaround between matches means those who missed the previous games are unlikely to be ready in time.
Ethan Chislett, Flavio Da Silva, Bradley Cross, Paseka Mako, Nkanyiso Shinga, Rushwin Dortley and Faiz Abrahams are those expected to remain sidelined – either due to injury or lack of match fitness for now.
“It will be the same players because the time is too short,” said Da Cruz.
“These players will be out of the squad, we also have one who we’re doubtful about.
“We will wait for the medical department today to make a decision.”
The match kicks off at 15:00 at FNB Stadium on Saturday. Around lunch-time on Thursday, 32 000 tickets were sold.
