‘Dan Dance’ Breaks Silence On Shock Baroka Decision

Well-traveled coach Daniel Malesela has questioned his suspension, saying that he feels as if Baroka FC used him.

Malesela was on Tuesday placed on suspension, pending a club investigation, with chairman Khurishi Mphahlele saying there had been allegations of Malesela’s conduct following their narrow 1-0 defeat in their PSL relegation/promotional playoffs opener to University of Pretoria. Mphahlele also said there was another case of wrongdoing on the coach’s end throughout the season.

Morgan Mammila, who has made a sensational return to the club after parting ways with Chippa United, has been roped in as interim coach.

‘Dan Dance’ has since hit back at the club, accusing them of using him.

“I think I was used,” Malesela told Robert Marawa on 947.

“Jah, I was used to an extent and it got to a point where my being used, people know.”

Malesela also admitted that he doesn’t think he’ll be heading back to Baroka, saying: “You know when you are on suspension, it means they have terminated you.

“There is a lot of people who know football, but there’s a lot of people who don’t know how to coach,” he continued.

“Everybody becomes a coach and everybody becomes this knowledgable person. But what is good now is that all these boys that I’ve coached now are wanted by certain clubs – I know that for a fact.

“These boys were not known. This club was not in the limelight and everything else. I’m happy for the boys where they are.

“But the problem is I always do this thing of promoting players, but what happens to me.”

Malesela took up the hot-seat at the Limpopo outfit in October 2023 after Stanford Nkoane was shown the exit door, leading them to a third-place finish in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Baroka are currently vying in it out for a spot in the DStv Premiership next season against Tuks and Richards Bay.

Bakgakga currently occupy third spot in the playoffs with zero points. AmaTuks are in first spot and have an opportunity to solidify their grip in pole position when they travel to KwaZulu-Natal to take on the Natal Rich Boyz this afternoon.

The match commences at 15:00 from King Zwelithini Stadium.
