Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids believes on-loan Orlando Pirates striker Kwame Peprah will have “a huge impact” at the Team of Choice.
Peprah, 22, joined Maritzburg on loan from the Buccaneers after failing to secure a spot under new Pirates coach Jose Riveiro.
His signing was announced this past week along with the arrivals of Ali Meza and Bradley Cross, who joined the club as free agents.
Davids knows Peprah from his time as co-head coach at Orlando Stadium and is full of praise for the Ghanaian forward.
“Kwame Peprah is a striker that propelled Pirates leading the attacking line into the Confederation Cup final and he has a huge pedigree in relation to his season at Pirates,” he told the club’s media department.
“I know him well; I know his strengths and I know how to utilize him. I am sure he will make a huge impact along with our other strikers Samu and Amadou all three of them will complement each other well and give us a different strength in our attacking prowess.”
Peprah, meanwhile, believes Davids knows his strengths and will give him more playing opportunities after he featured in just five DStv Premiership games this season so far.
“Looking at the head coach now, I know I have already worked with him, not only him but some of the players [Wayde Jooste who was at Pirates last season],” said Peprah who scored nine goals for Pirates last season under Davids.
“I’m going to adjust with the team easily. I know working with Fadlu, he’s going to give me a big opportunity to play and that will give me more confidence to play for this club.”
