Dladla Discusses Major ‘Concern’ For Durban City

Durban City coach Pitso Dladla has raised concerns over what his team has been struggling with as the season nears its conclusion.

Speaking after their 1-0 defeat to Golden Arrows at King Zwelithini Stadium on Sunday, Dladla pointed to a worrying lack of goals in recent matches.

City currently sit sixth on the Betway Premiership table with 35 points from 24 games.

He acknowledged the attacking issues, noting that even in their run to the Nedbank Cup final, they managed just one goal alongside a fortunate own goal.

Dladla added that the team has relied heavily on goalkeeper Darren Keet and a solid defence to get through matches.

“Look, the numbers are there, the stats are there. I do agree with you 100%. There are games where we have been surviving because of our goalkeeper Darren Keet and defensive players and then we get away,” said Dladla.

“But it is not something we have been discussing as a technical team. We need to become a team that really creates goals and scoring chances.

“We need to become a team that scores goals. We are working on that. We need to find different combinations.

“We need to come up with different forms of attack for us to improve in terms of our conversion rates. It is a concern but we will work on it.”
