Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has pointed out Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Lucas Ribeiro as a standout player from this campaign saying the Brazilian was the difference in the champions’ attack.
Ribeiro stood head and shoulders above his peers in his second campaign at Chloorkop contributing 16 goals and nine assists in the league on the way to Sundowns lifting their eighth title in succession.
Speaking on SABC Sport’s Soccerzone on Monday, Khumalo said one can see with how the 26-year-old player does things on the pitch and that he was developed properly.
“You know, the good thing about Ribeiro is that he is making things look easy,” said Khumalo.
“And you can tell that his upbringing in terms of development stages, they were very far in terms of 100% because his technique is unbelievable. Each and every goal he scores, he doesn’t struggle, he just plugs them in even if he uses power he picks a spot.
“Then you come to how calm he is because obvious sometimes football is a game of emotions. There are some incidents where they tackle him to get a reaction only to find that he is so calm because he is focusing on his game.
“And this is the man that made a difference when it comes to Sundowns attack.”
