Doctor Rates Chiefs’ New Signings

Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo believes all of Amakhosi’s January signings have added quality to Nasreddine Nabi’s side.

Chiefs added three players in January, completing a swap deal for Tashreeq Morris, which saw Christian Saile move the other way, while Glody Lilepo joined from France and Thabo Cele also returned to South Africa.

Despite some mixed results, Chiefs have won three of their last six matches in all competitions, while losing two, Khumalo believes the new signings have added quality to the squad.

“You could tell in their last matches that there has been an injection of new fuel,” Khumalo told iDiski Times‘ journalist Matshelane Mamabolo.

“You look at Morris, and he is a mover; he looks comfortable with the ball, and he engages the defenders.

“The Congolese [Glody Lilepo] looks to me like he came into the club knowing their trophy drought situation and wants to really make a difference.

“But he looks to me like he is putting himself under too much pressure; he wants to do too much too soon. I think he is a good player, and he’s already shown that with the goals he scored. He just needs to calm down a little because, I really think he is the answer to what Nabi was looking for in attack.

“I like Thabo Cele’s arrogance in midfield. He reminds me of Wellington Manyathi, a commanding figure on the pitch that always seems to be saying, ‘I’m the boss’.

“Chiefs have signed well.”
