Kaizer Chiefs winger Keagan Dolly says he’s excited about the prospect of facing some of the world’s best players when Bafana Bafana take on France.
The 29-year-old was included in Hugo Broos’ final 23-man squad to face Guinea and France later this month.
Dolly, who has scored six goals and assisted five more in all competitions this season, says his call-up proves that he’s performing well for Amakhosi.
“Obviously we should be proud to be representing the country and I’ve always said since I’ve been a youngster, since I’ve played football, I always wanted to see myself in the Bafana setup,” he told the club’s media department.
“Also, it shows that I’m doing well on the field for my club, Kaizer Chiefs. It’s another challenging week for us, Golden Arrows and after that we start focussing on Bafana.”
With the match against Les Bleus taking place in France, it will be a first return to Europe since he’s left Montpellier when his contract expired in June 2021 – and Dolly is excited to potentially meet some familiar faces.
“I didn’t expect to go back to France so soon but I’ve got good memories, going back to see the stadiums that I’ve played in and meet some people from France, so it’ll be good to go back and share my experiences with the boys,” he added.
“It’s a new team, we’re going to be playing one of the top teams in the world, which is France, with some of the top players, who play in the highest leagues. So it’s a good experience for us to see how good we are at the top.”
Dolly has made 21 appearances for Bafana and was part of Broos previous squad, featuring 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Zimbabwe and 20 in the controversial defeat to Ghana.
