Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove believes the defensive challenges in the side aren’t necessarily solely on the defensive department because when the team loses everyone suffers.
The Mozambican’s comments come as Chiefs gets ready to face TS Galaxy in the league in Polokwane on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways.
Amakhosi are winless in their last three matches, collecting just a point from a possible nine to sit in eighth position on the Betway Premiership log with 29 points in 23 matches. Nasreddine Nabi’s men so far have the third-leakiest defense in the league with 28 goals.
Dove says though it doesn’t help to focus on what’s happened already he believes everyone should come to the party starting from the front.
“Defending doesn’t start at the back,” said Dove.
“You know it’s a whole unit problem and as I said there’s things that you know we need to fix, starting from the front to the back.
“Yeah, because when we concede goals not only defenders concede goals but the whole team. So I think it’s something that we need to fix as a unit not as a department.
“I think we take one game at a time and yes we have conceded silly goals sometimes, but we choose not to focus a lot on what we can’t control no more. I mean, all the games are gone.
“I feel like the most important thing is us focusing from now going forward, you know, minimize our mistakes and making sure that whenever we get a chance to score we score.”
