Mamelodi Sundowns have equalled Kaizer Chiefs’ for the longest unbeaten run in the Premier Soccer League after making it 31 games without defeat.
Masandawana last lost a league fixture against SuperSport United in September 2022 and have since gone 31 games without defeat.
Over this run, Rulani Mokwena’s men have picked up 25 wins and six draws to write their names into the league’s history books yet again.
In so doing they have equalled Chiefs’ record from 2005, which was started under the late Ted Dumitru and finished by Ernst Middendorp.
Amakhosi were unbeaten between 15 January 2005 and 16 November 2005, during which they collected 15 wins and 16 draws.
Sundowns have a chance to become the sole holders of the record when they will host Stellenbosch FC next week Wednesday.
Ironically, Stellenbosch are the only side which has beaten Masandawana since Rulani Mokwena took over, with the defeat coming in the Nedbank Cup quarter-final.
