Kaizer Chiefs have taken an important step towards qualifying for next season’s CAF Champions League after moving into second place on the log.
Amakhosi beat their bitter rivals 2-1 in Saturday’s Soweto Derby at the Orlando Stadium, completing the double over the Buccaneers.
As a consequence, Chiefs moved back into second spot on the log with 35 points, overtaking Royal AM, who have played one more game and sit on 33 points.
The Glamour Boys have also opened a three-point gap to Pirates, who remained on 32 points despite having played three matches more.
Chiefs, though, are still 16 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, with Masandawana having played three more games.
