Cape Town City interim coach Mushin Ertugral has admitted that it is good to have midfielder Thulani Serero back in the country and at the club.
The former Ajax Cape Town and Ajax Amsterdam star joined the Citizens last month as a free agent more than a year after leaving Khor Fakkhan in the UAE Pro League.
Cream, as Serero is affectionately known, made his City debut in the 1-1 league draw against TS Galaxy at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday, with Ertugral hailing the player’s presence.
The coach went on to liken Serero to Kamohelo Mokotjo and Fortune Makaringe saying they are strategic players.
“I love my boy,” said Ertugral.
“I think I have given him the first [game], if I’m not mistaken the Top 8 game against Pirates he scored when he played from the line-up.
“I think it was me with Thulani all these years. It’s great to have him back after all these years. I watched him last year in the Emirates when I was helping out at Baniyas and he scored against Baniyas. I saw him there and he was marvellous in that game.
“Having him here for me is like Kamo [Mokotjo] the right hand. They are very coachable, they know exactly how we are going to operate. Kamo was outstanding in 60 minutes today.
“So if he can really rise his level a little bit more up I think these are strategic players that are necessary in our football in my opinion. Also Fortune [Makaringe] first 45 minutes was brilliant and he went out we had a pressing system.”
