Former Kaizer Chiefs, Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic defender Siphiwe Mkhonza has sadly passed away.
Mkhonza began his professional career in 1999 after he was scouted by Bloemfontein Celtic.
He later featured for Ria Stars and Golden Arrows before being signed by Chiefs in 2004. He won the league title with Amakhosi and also received a call-up to Bafana Bafana during his days at Naturena.
After Chiefs, he went to SuperSport United, Maritzburg United, AmaZulu and Black Leopards in the latter stages of his career.
After hanging up his boots, he worked as a TV analyst for the SABC and was doing coaching courses. However, he had disappeared off air recently after battling with illness and sadly succumbed to it.
His family confirmed that Mkhonza has sadly passed away int eh early hours of Tuesday morning after he had been suffering from kidney infection for a long time.
He was admitted at Charlotte Maxeke a month ago and was released after showing signs of recovery. Mkhonza has been taken care off by his girlfriend and the mother of his 3 children Ms Nondumiso Masengemi at their home in Roodepoort.
Mkhonza is survived by his children, his father Joseph Skheshe kheshe Mkhonza, his Mom Phindile Mkhonza.
