Former Chiefs Star Castillo Rates PSL

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Edson Castillo has offered his verdict on the standard of the PSL after spending two seasons playing in South Africa.

Castillo was with Amakhosi in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons before he parted ways with the club at the end of the previous season.

The midfielder has found a new home back in his homeland, sealing a free-transfer move to Carabobo FC, who unveiled him on Thursday.

Castillo has described PSL as “very competitive and physically demanding”, adding that the league pushed him to give his all.

“The South African league is very competitive and physically demanding,” said Castillo as per Carabono FC website.

“It helped my game because I’m a player who pushes himself to the limit, and performing at that level helped me be at 100 percent.”

Castillo believes he has reached a mature stage of his career, feeling the experience he has gained will allow him to make a strong contribution to his new club.

“I feel like I’m at a stage in my career where I’m more mature, I have a lot of experience, and I can contribute a lot to Carabobo.”

During his spell in South Africa, Castillo scored five goals and registered two assists in 41 appearances for the Phefeni Glamour Boys.
