SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has made a bold claim that he would win the Betway Premiership title if his wish to go into the market was granted.
Matsatsantsa succumbed to their fifth defeat across all competitions in 2024/25 after going down 2-0 to Orlando Pirates on Tuesday evening dropping further down into the danger zone (13th) with just four points from five matches.
Hunt, who has won four league titles, three with SuperSport and one with Bidvest Wits, made a bold statement after losing to Pirates, stating that he could win the league if he was given a budget.
“It’s very difficult especially with the exit door at the club,” Hunt said.

“In 10 years, I was here, we came third last year, we came seventh by one point from fourth to go back in Africa after having to travel but we did with our squad playing all the kids.
“We suffered especially in the second half.
“Give me a cheque book I will show you how to win the league simply, but it doesn’t work like that.
“You have to groom, you have to be patient, and we are caught in a battle of playing Sundowns away, playing [Kaizer] Chiefs away, playing Pirates twice and Cape Town City in Cape Town it’s not easy.
“We haven’t had a nice run. Every game is winnable but there’s a game where we could’ve a better run.”
