Granada CF head coach José Rojo Martín has hailed Orlando Pirates after his side’s 2-0 defeat to Buccaneers this weekend.
Pirates finished their pre-season tour with a 2-0 win over the LaLiga 2 side thanks to late goals by Patrick Maswangangyi and Relebohile Mofokeng.
It was the only win new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou and Pirates picked up in Spain after starting the tour with a 2-0 defeat to Bolton Wanders, before drawing 1-1 with Pafos FC and 0-0 with UD Las Palmas.
After the match, Granada’s Martin says he was impressed with Pirates’ performance, especially their pressing and interplay with the goalkeepers.
“Very good players, I like how the team worked together,” he told SuperSport TV.
“Everybody is pressing, a very high intensity, they played well with the goalkeeper. I was impressed how the goalkeeper was involved in every situation.
“I’m quite satisfied with how my team did.”
Pirates open their season against Polokwane City in the MTN8 quarter-final on 2 August, before kicking off the 2025/26 Betway Premiership against Sekhukhune United a week later.
