Former PSL referee Victor Hlungwani says Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Denis Onyango was correctly sent off by Masixole Bambiso in their Betway Premiership clash against Marumo Gallants.
The Sundowns captain fouled Gallants striker Gabadinho Mhango thus resulting in him getting his second yellow card of the evening and marching orders.

Despite being one man down, Miguel Cardoso’s charges rallied from a goal down to beat Bahlabane Ba Ntwa 3-1.
Speaking on Soccerzone, the ‘Principal’ applauded Bambiso for the right call in sending off the Ugandan shotstopper as the league leaders received their ninth red card off the campaign.
“We see Onyango getting a red card here. Ninth red card for Sundowns this season,” Hlungwani said.
“Onyango got a red card here after what we call as SPA [Stopping A Promising Attack] on Mhango there.
“Here, already seen by the referee to give a red card.
“But what we want to educate, you can see Onyango there promising an attack. Second yellow, red card.”

Hlungwani also wanted to clarify the situation surrounding Thapelo Morena’s switch of position which saw him take over the goalkeeper jersey of Jody February instead of using his own jersey.

“But what we want to educate you is that Sundowns had finished the number of subs, so that means that someone must be the goalkeeper.
“Who became the goalkeeper? It was Thapelo Morena. Which jersey did he wear? He was wearing Jody February’s number.

“Now, there’s a number on the shorts. That’s what the referee will consider when they have to give a yellow card
“They [match officials] will not consider Jody February’s jersey.
“They put the number on the short. Every player, whether NFD or PSL, there’s a number here for this situation.”
