Former PSL referee Victor Hlungwani reckons that Kaizer Chiefs‘ penalty against Stellenbosch FC was correctly called.

Mosa Lebusa was penalised for his mistimed tackle which saw the ball come off his arm and Amakhosi awarded a spot kick.

Flavio Da Silva stepped up to his convert the penalty but that did not change the outcome of the match as Stellies marched into the next round of the Nedbank Cup while the Glamour Boys were dumped out of their second domestic cup by the Cape Winelands outfit.

“Lebusa there put his hand in a natural position,” ‘The Principal’ said on Soccerzone.

“The law talks about vertically when the player is falling or laterally. So, this player as he’s falling, he’s laterally.

“So, you can see that hand is laterally not vertically. It’s no longer supporting, so a handball offence has been committed by Lebusa there.

“Correct decision by the referee to give the penalty.”
